Port Townsend and vicinity offer many small museums that are self-guided.  Some are free with your WaMA badge, others have an admission charge.

Free for WaMA

Rothschild House State Park, managed by the Jefferson County Historical Society, 1868 Greek revival style historic house with nearly all original furnishings; corner of Franklin & Taylor St., uptown Port Townsend, admission free with WaMA badge. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Commanding Officer’s Quarters, managed by the Jefferson County Historical Society, 1904 historic house with Edwardian furniture and furnishings depicting life as a Commanding Officer at Fort Worden State Park on Officer’s Row, free with WaMA badge. 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Jefferson Museum of Art & History, museum of the Jefferson County Historical Society, fine art and history exhibits tell the story of Jefferson County.  In historic City Hall, 540 Water Street, admission free with WaMA badge. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Art Deco Light Museum, View over 400 slip shade light fixtures that graced the homes of the middle and upper class during the Great Depression; in Vintage Hardware store, 2000 Simms Way, Port Townsend, free admission. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Point Wilson Light House at Fort Worden State Park. It was built in 1913 and stands 51′ tall, guided tours. Free admission, tours about every 15 minutes depending on crowd size, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., June 18

Quilcene History Museum, exhibits related to the history of the Quilcene area and south Jefferson County.  151 Columbia Street, Quilcene, WA.  Open Friday – Monday 1 – 5 p.m.

Museums with Admission Fees

Port Townsend Marine Science Center and Natural History Museum, See and touch living marine creatures and interpretation of the natural history of the area; Fort Worden State Park, $5 admission. 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

PT Aero Museum, the collection includes a variety of antique and classic aircraft. Jefferson County Airport, St. Rt. 19, 5 miles south of Port Townsend,  $8 admission with WaMA badge, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Coast Artillery Museum, military history of Fort Worden and other forts in the Puget Sound ‘triangle of fire’; Fort Worden State Park, Building 201, $3 admission. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
