Kitsap County Historical Society & Museum

Sharing Kitsap County history since 1948.

We seek a part-time Executive Assistant who will work with our employees, volunteers and trustees in furthering the growth and programs of the museum and historical society. The minimum number of hours are 26 hours per week, with occasional weeks of up to 32 hours based on events and programs.

Primary responsibilities are to:

• Welcome visitors and members to the museum and serve as the primary telephone operator
• Process admissions, gift store sales, and donations through the point-of-sale terminal
• Prepare correspondence related to memberships, acknowledgment letters and tax receipts, and other museum operations
• Maintain the membership database
• Coordinate scheduling of volunteers for special projects and programs
• Open and close the museum
• Assist in the efficient operations of the museum by scheduling vendors and ordering supplies

Applications used:

• Microsoft Office and Excel – Publisher knowledge is desirable
• Past Perfect museum membership system
• Square point-of-sale – the museum will be converting to Square

Minimum qualifications:

• Friendly, courteous public relations skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel plus a demonstrated ability to learn the other applications
• Self-confident with the ability to work well with the public, staff, volunteers, trustees, and vendors

Desired Knowledge

• Awareness of Kitsap County’s historical, heritage, and tourist sites
