Propose a Conference Session

Be sure to fill out the session proposal form by Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Priority consideration will be given to early submissions.

WaMA aspires to include sessions representing the diversity of museum work across all disciplines/specialties, regions, and museum sizes. We encourage sessions that include multiple presenters. Sessions that relate to the conference theme are especially competitive.

  • Workshop / Interactive Session (October 19, 2026 – 90 Min to 120 Min). A hands-on, participatory session engaging the audience through activities, discussion, or guided exercises. Designed for learning by doing.
  • Lecture / Presentation (October 20-21, 2026, 60 minutes followed by 15 minutes for Q&A). A single speaker (or pair) delivering a prepared talk, usually with slides. Minimal audience interaction beyond Q&A.
  • Panel Discussion (October 20-21, 2026, 60 minutes followed by 15 minutes for Q&A). 3–5 presenters offering multiple perspectives on a shared topic, moderated by a facilitator. Ends with Q&A.
  • Roundtable Discussion (October 20-21, 2026, 60 minutes followed by 15 minutes for Q&A).  A facilitated, conversational format in which attendees participate equally. Presenter(s) guide discussion rather than “present.”

Topics may include but aren’t limited to: community engagement, accessibility, equity, diversity and inclusion, collaboration, exhibit development, strategic planning, collections stewardship, facilities and safety, technology, cultural tourism, interpretation, museum management and leadership, and fundraising.

Note: WaMA conference policy does not allow for reimbursement of expenses. All session participants must register for the conference.
