The Registrar / Collections Manager is a full-time position reporting directly to the Executive Director. This position is responsible for the collection, exhibits, and computer system for Fort Walla Walla Museum.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee collection of 60,000 artifacts, art, images and historical documents
Receive new items, process paperwork with donors and create digital files including images to support the collection
Design, fabricate, and install exhibits, in conference with Executive Director
Supervise volunteers and interns on collections and exhibit work
Respond to public inquiries and give public presentations
Perform standard maintenance of Museum computer system
Work with staff in development and coordination of museum events
Maintain updates and backups to server and other tech needs as necessary
Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and experience working with historical artifacts
Strong verbal and written communication, research, time management and organizational skills
Excellent editing, proofreading and computer skills including MS Office Suite
Proven experience at managing multiple tasks effectively
Capacity to work effectively and congenially with staff, volunteers and visitors
Ability to follow directions, determine priorities, be flexible and complete tasks on time
Initiative to seek out and take advantage of opportunities to strengthen relevant knowledge
Computer network management & computer troubleshooting skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Museum Studies from an accredited institution
Expertise in prehistoric and/or historical artifact identification
Interest and enthusiasm in preserving and sharing local heritage
Knowledge of Pacific Northwest History
Previous experience with PastPerfect 4.0
Proficiency with Photoshop or similar program
Fluency in Spanish
Experience with public speaking
